Course Requirements

Applicants must hold an approved dental qualification and have a minimum of one year clinical experience.

The IELTS and TOEFL standard of English Language levels listed below are applicable to all postgraduate courses. The table also lists the equivalents from other test providers.

Teaching & Learning

If you are looking to develop and enhance your skills and knowledge in the field of implant dentistry, this comprehensive, innovative, and student-centred programme that will help impart the levels of competence and confidence required to appropriately diagnose and manage implant dentistry patients seeking advanced care, concomitantly applying an evidence-based approach.

You will receive training and education in our state-of-the-art dental hospital in Reading. Teaching and training are delivered by a renowned faculty of clinical academics, consultants, technical instructors, specialist clinicians and visiting lecturers. The collaboration with recognised and trusted international universities provides students with the valuable opportunity to experience divers approaches and learn from international key experts in the speciality.

Learning is provided by the means of face-to-face lectures and focussed seminars, case-based discussions, journal clubs, accessing an extensive online educational platform, simulated practical training using bespoke surgical modules and cadaveric specimens, treatment planning sessions, observation, and supervised clinical patient treatment in our dental hospital.

Teaching will be limited to smaller group sizes, and consequently places are limited.

Teaching and Learning:

oThe programme utilises an innovative, blended-learning approach.

oThe online platform provides an extensive suite of content and learning resources, with access to the institute Library.

oTeaching and training are delivered by the means of, lectures, focussed seminars, small-group teaching, journal clubs, case-based-discussions, small group teaching in clinical and laboratory settings, and advanced clinical training.

oPractical skills and clinical training is delivered at a state-of- the art clinical facilities at the dental hospital.

oResearch methods training is delivered by a team of experienced researchers and academics. Students will be encouraged to develop a range of innovative and clinically relevant research projects enhancing students’ confidence in research

oAssessment involves a combination of written exams, oral presentations, the completion of clinical portfolio’s, assignments, and a final year dissertation.

oThe structure and content of study varies across the years with most of the theoretical teaching being delivered during the first year, setting the core knowledge for the second and third year.

oIn a typical week approximately 20% of the time is spent in lectures and tutorials, 60% in clinical-related activity, and 20% is dedicated to research and self-directed learning.
